Access to English Classes
Beyond a shadow of doubt, learning English language is incredibly important, especially for our future generations. Without this skill, our children will be left behind as they are denied better jobs and placements.

To address this need CARE Foundation initiated an English Language Development Program called ACCESS in the year 2004. Our goal with this two-year program is that our students should become sophisticated speakers, readers, writers and professionals and have access to better employment opportunities. This program is part of our efforts to ensure a brighter future and a successful career for the Pakistani children.

The first Access batch consisted of 200 students and currently we are running 10 Access centers, each catering to 70 children. In 2008 over 600 students graduated from the Access Program. The CARE Access Program was rated as the best in South Asia and the Middle East in 2006 by USAID.

The results of the ACCESS program have been wonderful – the children love learning English, and as one 9 year old student says “it has opened my mind to the rest of the world- I can now read and understand everything around me, and can also read many books. It has increased my confidence as we make presentations in English to the rest of the class and now I can make myself understood and feel comfortable in the language”.
