CARE schools run in double shifts to accommodate the large number of students in enrolling in our schools. The majority of these schools are not equipped to accommodate such large numbers, hence students have to attend class outside in open air. It is a sad thought that there is not even a single piece of furniture in most of the Government adopted schools. CARE provides these missing facilities, but due to our financial constraint we urgently need sponsors for classrooms. One classroom is sponsored for Rs. 10,000 per month (this includes the cost of furniture, electricity, books and renovation made to the classroom).

CARE has 172 government adopted schools, for which CARE bears the running cost, cost of education and maintenance for the school. CARE has also supplemented all government schools with its own trained teachers in order to reduce the student teacher ratio. CARE is always looking for donors who are willing to sponsor a school and bear its expenses. Currently over 30 of CARE’s schools are sponsored by organizations and individuals, the majority of which are in Pakistan. The cost of sponsoring a school per month is between Rs. 100,000 to 150,000, depending on the number of children being educated in the school.

We aim to provide our children with a marketable education that is at par with any other school in Pakistan. Hence, the education we provide the children must be well rounded. That is why most CARE schools provide an education that included all science subjects, geography, history and Library sessions. Most of our schools have libraries, but our aim is to equip every school. The cost of equipping a library in one of our schools is Rs. 70,000.

CARE runs a scholarship scheme which provides financial assistance to the bright and deserving CARE students who are seeing a college education. Under the scheme, only CARE students are eligible who have secured A+ or A grade in their Matriculation examinations, and have qualified for admission in a CARE approved college. The scheme provides funds for tuition fees, books, stationery, examination fees and transport/hostel expenses. The cost of sponsoring a CARE Scholarship student is Rs. 2,000 per month.
